“I’m a 22 year old illustrator interested in representing femininity and experiences of anxiety.”

“I made this clay model as a reflection on the way femininity is often presented in restrictive, binary terms. Taking inspiration from religious iconography and science-fiction, my model aims to express a conflict between the perfection that women are expected to aspire to, and the imperfect humans we are in reality. The visible heart and expressive face celebrate emotional response and embodiment, attributes of the construct of femininity which are sometimes used to deride women and the way they present themselves.” – Angel Leona
